Lisbon Challenge

The moment we were all waiting for is finally here. The application process for the first ever Lisbon Challenge started back in March, and by the end of June, 470 applications were submitted from more than a 1000 entrepreneurs from all corners of the world (26 countries in total). Almost half of the startups competing for a place on our accelerator were international - a fact that we are particularly proud of. All teams had at least a prototype to present in their applications and many of them already had their product placed on the market. This is of particular importance since the program is designed to aid startups moving into the growth stage. Our team was genuinely happy to receive so many applications from entrepreneurs presenting the inspiring solutions of their startups from diverse range of industries. We thank each and everyone of you.

Today we are proud to reveal for the first time the full list of startups entering the Lisbon Challenge 2013. These are the 74 teams coming to Lisbon from 4 continents and 15 countries. Just over half of them are from Portugal and respectively the rest are international. The country with highest number of startups after Portugal is Brazil with 10 teams, and the UK and Romania closing the top 3 with four startups each.

The teams will start their participation on the 28 August. A number of workshops and meetings with some of the 200+ mentors and investors will follow in the next few months for the teams, trying to successfully grow their ventures. And let’s not forget - the prizes are up for grabs.
