A camera attached to a tripod was sitting suspiciously atop one of the desks in the Beta-i’s space where the participating startups in Lisbon Challenge are working since the end of August. It was easy to notice and people seemed curious to know what was the purpose of having it there, but until this morning not many seemed to know. This is when Tiago Almeida from wannaplayer sent me a tweet asking to look at a link. And there it was - a forty second time lapse video of a day at the office of Lisbon Challenge at Central Station. The link quickly made the rounds among the challengers and I hurried to speak to Tiago about the video and to see how his startup is doing.
“The camera was taking pictures every 15 sec., so I could assemble the images into a time lapse” - he said, when I approached him asking if making the video was his initial idea of using the camera (I personally thought that they are recording video podcasts!). It was Tiago’s first attempt at making such a video and he didn’t find it too challenging - only a bit time-consuming as it took 8 hours of continuous shooting.
So far he and the rest of wannaplayer team are making most of their time at Lisbon Challenge. The startup has developed a great platform connecting football players, coaches, agents, scouts, clubs, staff and fans and currently they are busy improving their product all aroud. “The mentors helped us to realize some issues and how to address those issues. We started to think that we don’t necessarily need more and more features, but we need to perfect what we already have.” At this moment an investment is of crucial importance for the startup. “Our dream is make a LinkedIn for football player and agents.”. Wouldn’t that be just plain awesome?
